“How to Be a Thankful Person”
Bear Morton
Selected Scriptures

As we continue our study on thankfulness, we will apply the theology of what we learned last time to a heart that practices thankfulness. Here are nine ways we need to learn how to be thankful that please God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
1. You say thank you to God when you are more like Christ than you are the like the world.
2. You say thank you to God when you spend time with Him, craving His Word with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength.
3. You say thank you to God when you praise and worship Him publicly.
4. You say thank you to God when you forgive others.
5. You say thank you to God when you are a servant.
6. You say thank you to God when you don’t keep the Good News to yourself, but share the gospel of salvation with the lost.
7. You say thank you to God when you reach out to the hurting.
8. You say thank you to God when you give Him your best.
9. You say thank you to God when you deny yourself.

“The Tale of Two Extremes” Part 2
Pastor Greg “Bear” Morton
– John 18:12–27 –

As we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we come to the tale of two extremes—one being the holiness and righteousness of Jesus and the other being the sinful denial of Peter.  Both teach us valuable lessons.

1. Jesus at His trial. (vv. 12–14, 19–24)
2. Peter in his denial (vv. 15–18, 25–27)

“Ruth’s Redemption as a Picture of Yours”
Bernie Schell
– Ruth 4 –

“But the implication throughout [the book of Ruth] is that God is watching over his people, and that He brings to pass what is good. The book is a book about God. He rules over all and brings blessing to those who trust Him” (Leon Morris, Ruth: An Introduction and Commentary, [Downers Grove, IL: Inter-Varsity Press, 1968] p. 242).

1. Introduction (Hebrews 1:1–2)
2. Old Testament picture prefigures New Testament reality (Ruth 4)
3. New Testament reality fulfills Old Testament sign (Matthew 26:26–29)

“The Transformed Christian Life”
Pastor Greg “Bear” Morton
– 1 Thessalonians 1:6–10 –

Again this morning we look at genuine transformation; genuine or real transformation that only comes through believing in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And in particular, in verses eight through ten, the Apostle Paul points to three heart attitudes that prove that a person is genuinely transformed and belong to Jesus’ Church.

1. A transformed Christian life leads to spreading the Word of God (v. 8)
2. A transformed Christian life will submit and serve the Lord (v. 9)
3. A transformed Christian life will hold eternity in its view (v. 10)
